Welcome Mina.
Mina is a 15 pound, black Toy Poodle.
We estimate Mina's age to be around 9 or 10 years.
Mina came into rescue from Arizona Humane Society.
She had a benign tumor on her neck, vision problems and needed a dental.
Thanks to our wonderful donors and a grant from Phoenix Animal Care Coalition, we were able to get all of Mini's medical needs attended to.
Mina is such a sweet dog and has never shown any sign of aggression.
Indeed she is so appreciative of being loved and taken care of.
Mina loves her people but also needs another dog in her forever home.
With Mina' s relatively new loss of sight in her one eye she looks to the other dog in her foster home to be her buddy and make her feel secure.
Mina has been introduced to a cat and she ignored the cat.
Mi na will do best in a calm settled household.
She is not a good fit for a home with younger children.
Mina's favorite spot is beside you and secondly anywhere she can sit in the sun.
Because MIna has limited vision she cannot go to a family with an unfenced pool in the backyard.
It is simply too risky for her.
Mina has difficulty with her depth perception so stairs are a challenge for her as well.
One level living is ideal for this gal.
Mina likes to play a bit first thing in the morning and she loves to take a daily walk and then nap time.
Her foster mom walks her for about 1.5 miles.
She will walk on cold days but would appreciate a jacket or sweater.
Mina is curious about what is outside of the gates, cars passing by, squirrels etc.
She would likely run out to explore out of curiosity if given the opportunity.
So she will need a fenced yard with no escape possibilities.
Mina is not very vocal so she could do well in a condo, apartment or townhome.
Mina is smart, picks up on routines quickly.
Mina is house and crate trained.
She has never had an accident in her foster home.
She is not crazy about the crate at night.
she fusses a little but once asleep she sleeps hard for 8 hours .
Mina is blind in one eye, and is experiencing some decline in her hearing.
Mina is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, had her teeth cleaned and was also recently groomed.
Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses.
If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: Adoption Application - Help A Dog Smile .
*Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt-it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.
