All parties interested must meet Moon before adoption. If you are not living in Anchorage, you must come in to meet Moon before adoption. This is to ensure that everyone is in agreement with the adoption and that there is a purrfect connection.
Moon will be back at the shelter beginning 4.10.23
Moon is going to need another surgery as he has a testicle impacted that needs removal. He will have this surgery 5.8.23
Bio purrfectly crafted by Moon's ameowzing Foster Home:
"Did your Valentine disappoint you this year? Are you severely lacking in cuddles and affection? Moon would like to meet you then! He is a sweet guy looking for his furever home. His favorite things include snuggles and zoomie time with his foster brother cat, Meatloaf. Moon is still a little shy, but once he trusts you he will frequently hop in your lap or follow you around the house asking for pets. Moon is still figuring out his surroundings and hasn’t found a favorite toy quite yet."
While at the shelter Moon was being bullied by several cats in the communal setting. He was constantly seeking out companionship however in that setting he was vulnerable and they were not accepting of him. Observant volunteers found a mass on Moon's belly which turned out to be two hernias. He required multiple surgeries and has recovered fully from them. We wanted him to have the chance to feel safe and secure so an ameowzing foster home was found. There he has been thriving and requires a very specialized home. Moon would love a companion like his foster brother Meatloaf who is tender, playful and accepting or he needs a home without other cats. We want to ensure that Moon continues to thrive and his confidence remains secure. His transition to a new home will be guided by his foster home and volunteers who will help ensure it is smooth, safe and secure for everyone involved.
Moon is back at the shelter and is doing very well in the office. He is playful, engaging and wants to be friends with the other cats. A home that has a loving, playful and sweet cat may be the best match for Moon.
Our adoption agreement prohibits declawing an adopted cat, and stipulates that the cat will be returned to us if the adoption does not work out. This also applies if the adopter is no longer able to keep the cat or is able to purrovide him/her with the necessary healthcare to maintain a healthy and happy life.
AHS will also purrovide behavioral support for the transition and more to ensure that everyone feels secure with the adoption.
For the first 30 days, cats who do not work out in their new homes may be returned for a refund or exchanged for another, more suitable, cat.
