If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Nella, spayed female, 5.5 years old, pitbull/American Staffordshire mix, 62 pounds.
Nella is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Nella is as sweet as pie and as fun as all get out.
She has never met a stranger - they're all just friends she hasn't licked yet - and loves to snuggle up with for a good Netflix binge.
While Nella would love to have a canine sibling she has proven to be more than confident on her own, such that a multi-dog home is not necessary.
She knows when to stop playing and can pick up on cues from other dogs, but when Nella is on, she is ON! Her foster home has small dogs and Nella's playstyle is too much for him.
She has been around many other dogs her size and had a great time, although she definitely plays hard.
Nella has no issues meeting other dogs, whether on leash or in her home environment.
For all her energy and excitement, Nella is in tune with her handler on a leash and walks right by you.
She has even been trusted to wander into the front yard off lead without running off.
Nella will pull occasionally but takes gentle correction well and heeds your commands, so it hasn't become an issue for her foster.
Nella is fully house and crate trained, and takes her meals in the crate because she will go around to snack on anyone else's bowls if allowed to eat with the other dogs.
She has never shown any food aggression or resource guarding though! Nella loves bones and treats, but really only loves one plushy toy that she takes to her bed.
She has not shown any issues with people or human food.
We have no history with cats.
Nella has been around older kids - aged years old - and had no issues.
She is initially a jumper but settles once told to, so she may be able to be around even younger children safely.
As a general rule, however, we advise homes with kids over the age of 10, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues.
Nella has good house manners and doesn't tend to bark at passersby or anything on the other side of the fence.
She loves her people and seeks your company.
She has been trusted loose in the house while unsupervised (although she does love finding a good pillow or bed to snuggle up into).
She can best be described as an energy matcher - if you want to play, she wants to play.
If you want to brunch with the girls, she wants to brunch with the girls.
And if you want to rot on the couch, well sign her up - that's her favorite thing on this earth! Although Nella is a playful gal, she is fairly moderate energy and won't require a very active home.
She gets her fill from being allowed outback to stretch her legs a bit but does not run around or bark.
She can usually be found sitting in one spot contemplating the meaning of life and alignment of the to find her furever person.
Is that you?
