Meet Nelly

Say hello to sweet Nelly!

Nelly is a lovely approximately 2 year old American Bulldog mix who is about 30kgs. Nelly was brought to EHS from a crowded municipal shelter, where she was at risk of being euthanized. Once she arrived at our shelter, the volunteers fell in love with her gentle and affectionate nature. She has since moved to foster, where she is thriving and becoming more confident every day.

Nelly loves to spend time with people and can be found snuggled beside them watching TV. She will follow her people around the house to stay close and prefers not to be left alone. She has her basic commands and is food motivated so more learning is likely! She is playful and affectionate.

Nelly needs time to adjust to new situations and doesn't love being outside. Walks with Nelly are optional and usually short, although we think that once she gets used to a neighbourhood and a routine she will enjoy them more. Because of this, she needs a backyard so that she can go outside whenever she needs to. Nelly will delight an adopter who is patient with her and willing to let her decide how and when to engage in new things.

Nelly will thrive in a calm, quiet home and we think that it would be best for Nelly if that home did not have small children, but we would consider a home with older, calm and respectful children. We do not know how she would do with another dog or other pets in the home but would be happy to explore this with a qualified applicant..

- a calm and patient family willing to give her plenty time to adjust to new things and who can help her with the creation of a daily routine
- no young children, at least to start
- a fully fenced private yard where she can enjoy outside time, without having to go for walks
