Adopting a dog is a big commitment. If your family is ready to grow and you are ready to make the leap, here are a few things to consider:

What are the schedules of the adults in your home?Do you have the time to welcome a dog into your home now?
The first thirty days are the most critical to bond and to provide proper socialization.
Training is essential and takes considerable time.
We do not recommend adopting a dog during particularly chaotic times such as over the holidays when the in-laws are visiting. It is best to welcome a new family member when stress is at a minimum and the family’s normal routine is in play. Of course, if you have time off around the holidays and will have a relatively calm stress-free household, then around the holidays might be a perfect time to welcome a new family member.
Do you want a puppy, or an older, already housebroken and potentially trained dog?Puppies are adorable but they require much more time to integrate into a family than an adult dog.
What size dog do you want?OES are large – Typically 60 to 100 lbs.
They can stand 24 to 26+ inches at the shoulder.
Are there other pets in your home?How will they react?
