Nine 5-week-old Lab mix puppies up for adoption with the Golden Gate Labrador Rescue.
Background.
Ellie’s puppies! They were born February 5-6, in Grass Valley, CA.
A very pregnant Mama Ellie came to GGLRR from Bakersfield (found in a field as a stray) and after a week in our program delivered 9 healthy puppies! Mom "Ellie" is a black lab mix and we do not know who dad is.

The puppies are fat and fluffy with solid colors ranging from silver and red to black, white and yellow.
Given the timing of their birth, we named them all (except for one – Taylor) after SF 49er teammates.
3 females: silver (Chase), yellow (with white markings) (Kittle) and white (Taylor) 6 males: 2 black with white markings (Aiyuk and Deebo), one whitish (Fred), one yellow (Purdy), one yellow with white markings (Mac) and one red with ombre’ to blackish (Bosa).
We believe the puppies will grow into adults ranging from lbs.
They will be ready to join their new forever homes around March 31, .
What their Rescue Rep says.
We will adopt these puppies out when they are nearly 8 weeks old.
Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep.
Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep...
repeat, repeat, repeat.
Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun.
Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes when available.
We envision the adopters will need to be home most (if not all the time), have a home with a backyard, and be fully aware of what puppy care is all about.
Not for those who are not ready to full commit to puppy care.
Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies.
Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable.
No other dogs in the home under two years old, please.
Cats okay.
We've been guessing what breeds of dog the father(s) of the puppies might be; my guess is 12% Golden Retriever, 25% Anatolian Shepherd, 25% Australian Shepherd, 13% Newfoundland, 13% Lab, and 12% Lhasa Apso -- and 100% cute as heck!!! Several puppy handouts from Marin Humane are fabulous reads:
Puppy World -- Puppy Health -- Puppy Socialization -- Medical.
Healthy as can be.
These puppies will receive their initial DHPP/DA2PP vaccination in late March prior to being adopted out.
We will also deworm them prior to adoption.
To keep the puppies safe from parvo, distemper, and other terrible ailments, each puppy will be restricted to their adopter's home and backyard until they are fully vaccinated -- typically at around four months old.
Adopters will have to follow certain sanitary/disinfecting protocols (primarily for hands and shoes) too so they do not inadvertently introduce a disease to their puppy.
The puppies are currently located in Grass Valley but will shift to a San Jose foster on March 16th.
