Meet Nova
Nova is a sweet, loving 2 year old wirehair terrier mix that weighs 15 lbs. She is the biggest cuddler you'll ever meet and loves nothing more in the world than to be snuggled up with her human. Her foster dad says "it may sound cliché but she is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet". When he gets home from work she greets him at the door standing on her back feet doing a happy, celebration dance and waits for him to pick her up for some cuddles. Her ideal family would be laid back and spends majority of the time at home. She is great in a car, but isn't the adventurous type that would enjoy going on lots of vacations exploring the outdoors. If you're looking for a pup that can be a great work from home companion or to join a retired family that enjoys spending time gardening outside, Nova is the girl for you.
Nova is a laid back, low energy pup that is the perfect fur-baby to snuggle up on the couch with to watch TV and relax with. She enjoys short walks around the block, but usually likes to be carried home if you go any further than that. She doesn't require a lot of playtime in the backyard and you can usually find her sunbathing while her foster dad works in the yard. Her energy is low majority of the time, except when she is excited to see her human - then she will turn into a spunky little pup for a few minutes before settling into your arms for her snuggle time. You don't need to worry about buying lots of toys and chews to keep her entertained while you're gone because she can usually be found curled up taking a nap until you get back home.
Nova is kid and dog friendly, but has not been tested with cats yet. She is currently in a home with other dogs of all ages and sizes, but would rather spend time with her humans than other dogs. She would be perfectly happy being the only fur-baby in the home, but can be around other dogs if friends or family visit with their pets. She is currently in a home with older kids and does great with them. She is very sweet and gentle with them, and loves the extra cuddles and belly rubs they give her. We recommend that if there are kids in the home, that they are older kids who understand boundaries in regards to how small she is and that she isn't necessarily a pup that enjoys running around or playing.
Nova is leashed trained, crate trained and potty trained. She is very well behaved and quiet when she is left alone while her human is at work or running errands, so she can be left out of the kennel without worrying about coming home and finding a mess. She would love to sleep in bed with her humans at night, but would do fine on a dog bed next to your bed. Nova's ideal home environment would be a laid back home with humans that spend a lot of time home with her. She would do fine in a house with a fenced in yard or an apartment, townhouse or condo with a fenced in area to potty and sunbathe in.
Nova is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted.
TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The total cost to adopt is $630, which includes a $400 adoption fee and a $230 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, spay procedure and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
