Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs.
IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Nugget, 3 year old, neutered male, boxer/pitbull mix, 55 pounds.
Nugget is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Nugget loves all people - men, women, and children alike.
He bonds quickly and loves "his people," doing his utmost to protect them and their home.
No one is a stranger to Nugget - everyone is a friend he has just not made yet.
He greatly prefers the company of humans, loving to snuggle and please.
Nugget lives in a foster home with two older children (ages 9 & 13), and is very gentle and respectful of his size and theirs.
Given his sweet demeanor and self-control, we believe he could do well even around smaller kids.
As a general rule, though, we recommend a home with kids 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues.
While we have no history with cats, Nugget has been uninterested in the barn cats when passing by and is very handler focused, so easily redirected with treats when/if a situation arises.
Nugget's foster home has several other dogs and in general, he does okay but he will need slow, proper introductions to set himself up for success.
He likes to play hard and can be a typical "bully" breed, sometimes getting rough with excitement.
We believe that a calm female dog sibling would be the best canine companion for Nugget, if not an only dog home.
Nugget is fully house, crate and leash trained.
He walks well on a loose lead and is not reactive to other dogs he meets.
Nugget is fed in his kennel as a general rule of the foster, and has never been put in a situation where food or toys are left out since there are several dogs in the home.
Nugget has no issue relinquishing possession of his toys or food to his human, however.
Nugget adores car rides and will jump into the car on his own.
He is no 'wild child' sure loves nice walks/hikes and playtime, but also can be totally relaxed sharing some nap time.
He would thrive in a home with kids to chase him, toss a ball or play frisbee with.
He listens well and learns quickly.
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.
