Meet Nyra
NYRA IS ALL EARS!!!
So if you like a dog that is loaded for sound, Nyra just might be what you are looking for.
Nyra is also a bit of an introvert. She was on a list of dogs needing out of our local shelter, because she was not doing well there. She had been cornered and catch poled by the local police department and taken to the shelter after a very long time and many reports of her being a stray. We cannot know what Nyra went through before she came to be with us, but suffice it to say, it left some emotional baggage that we have been patiently wading through, for quite a few months now. We have been working with her and making progress but any bonds she is willing to develop, will be better achieved in an adoptive home, where more one on one time can be given and where once she does give her heart, she is not forced to have it broken again, by another transition to another home and person.
Nyra is a smart, funny, happy girl and currently lives in a foster home with a handful of other dogs to pal around with, and a couple cats that she leaves alone. Because Nyra has been more comfortable with the dogs in the home, than the humans, and we haven't wanted to push her, progress has been slow but steady. Some of Nyra's accomplishments are, enjoying leash walks (she was terrified initially) taking treats, loving car rides and outside adventures and the occasional jump onto the couch or chair, to join her other dog friends, next to her foster. Her fears are still those of handling and restraint and no doubt come from the need for self-preservation and unsavory human experiences.
Nyra is a great little size for traveling and is house broken and loves laying in her bed when it's time to relax. She does enjoy the company of other dogs but this has also served to slow down her acceptance of humans so we feel she would progress better in a home where there may be only one other or no other dogs. Then, once trust is gained and friendships made, more dogs could be added and we would be more than happy to help with that.
Nyra is about 5-7 years old, weighs around 15 lbs, has an easy care short coat, big beautiful ears and would make a good dog for an RV traveler or perhaps someone just looking for another heartbeat in the home, to form a friendship with. Be advised, that friendship could take a while to achieve but every dog deserves a home of their own and Nyra is no exception. She will make you work for her friendship and may frustrate you a bit, but not every dog can be Lassie or Air Bud. Some need someone special, to see through the hurt and walls put up, almost assuredly, due to some human unkindness.
If you like your rescue dogs, to still need a bit of rescuing, we would love to introduce you to Nyra. It is not her fault she has a guarded opinion of humans but we think, with enough patience and commitment, she will change her opinion about you, if you can see past the bravado.
Nyra is spayed, up to date on five way and rabies vaccines, fecal checked clean of intestinal bugs, is flea and tick free and microchipped. She is ready to start the process of unlocking her heart, if you are and to the right home, we will waive her adoption fee.
Every dog deserves to be loved for who they are and encouraged to become more. We hope Nyra speaks to your heart and you can see.
