Meet Nyx
Meet Nyx! She is a 14 month old Harlequin female looking for her special home. I have not posted her yet because I felt like she needed more time to acclimate to living in a home with a family, but at this point I feel like she would benefit from a more one on one home that has more time to dedicate to just her. Nyx was not raised with a family, she was raised as a kennel dog and if you know anything about kennel dogs you know they are just different. She was also part of a sibling pair which adds another element of behavior problems. With time and patience though she will be someone's perfect pet.
Nyx is not a bad dog at all, she just doesn't know any better. She can be a little much, but temperament wise she is a 10. She is so sweet, and loving, and I doubt she would hurt a fly. She would do well with older children or adults.
She loves people and wants all the pets and loves she can get. She also gets overwhelmed easily and panics. This usually looks like running away from whatever is scary, running between your legs or submissive peeing. A few soft words and she's back at your side. She has come a long way with walking on a lead and is pretty easy to walk now.
She is crate trained, will wail a bit at first but settles when she realizes the wailing isn't helping. The biggest problem that we are seeing with her is she never learned to not potty in her crate. If she has to go she just goes and soils her kennel daily. This is common with kennel dogs and is usually easy to fix by just having them in a home where the kennel is not an option (except at night or when your not home) and potty breaks are frequent. Her other bad habit is barking, mostly when alone, but it's still naughty and would change in a home environment.
She needs a companion dog. A large breed male, and one that likes to play rough because she is a bit much, but good with the right dog.
She doesn't need an owner that will feel sorry for her and let her stay in that frame of mind. She needs a leader that will teach her with rules, boundaries, and encouragement.
Nyx will be spayed/pexied next week. She will also have entropion fixed in both eyes and will have her tail docked due to happy tail. She will be available to go to a new home in early April once she has healed. If you are interested in more information please submit an adoption application or let us know if you have one on file.
Sorry I don't have more recent pictures, it's hard to get any when she's always glued to my side lol
Nyx is located in Spokane, Wa
