Papaya is a beautiful and sweet 10 month old girl who comes from Puerto Vallarta Mexico, and is currently being fostered in BC on Vancouver Island.
Papaya came into care very young with her sister, they were about 2 months old and have been taken great care of while growing up.
Papaya has been in her foster home for a little over a month now.
Papaya's foster says that Papaya is an absolute sweetheart.
Since arriving in Canada she has been a little timid but gaining confidence every day.
She is a little uncertain about being pet over top of her head until she gets to know you, and it takes her a little longer to get comfortable with men.
She is hilarious in her playful antics as she turns in circles flipping her toys around.
She’s very smart and has learned sit, lay down, spin and turn, shakes both paws, roll over and leash walking now.
Her foster and her have been getting acquainted with “talking buttons” which she has taken an interest in.
They have also been trying out her interest in fetch and disc.
She’s very food motivated, her foster believes she’d be great at nose work.
She loves being near people, and does cry for a bit when kennelled with no one home, but her foster is actively trying to work on this.
This is totally normal for a settling dog and once she is comfortable in her home should subside.
She greets other dogs well, she tries to play with the household cats.
She is submissive when it comes to play, but she does really want to play as long as she is with a dog that doesn’t come on too strong.
Her foster has tried out some different foods for Papaya as some have seemed to make her a bit itchy and upset her tummy so she has put her on a salmon based diet which seems to be working well for her ! Papaya is spayed, vaccinated, tested for all major illness, de flead and ticked.
Her adoption fee of $550 covers all of her medical along with the cost of her flight to get to Canada.
Meet and greets are available for Papaya after an application is submitted.
