Meet Papaya
I know those ADORABLE ears are enough to win you over, but let me tell you more about this sweet 3.5 month old girl! Papaya is a Shepherd mix. She is very smart and has already learned sit, come, shake, and is working on mastering her down. She loves when we dump out the toy basket for her so she can enjoy ALL of the toys! Papaya loves to be outside and play with her two foster dog siblings. She has no problem being the smallest of the crew because her personality is BIG! Even though her legs are the shortest, I think she is the fastest. While she isn't much of a barker, she is finding her voice during playtime and does yip and give tiny barks to let the other dogs know she wants to play.
Papaya does go in her crate on her own to find a quiet space, but she has recently found a love for the cool tile floors under the kitchen table. She is mostly crate trained, only giving a few minutes of whimpers/yips before settling in for the night where she has been sleeping till 5-6 am!
Papaya is very food motivated. She has been eating her food and chews in her crate to provide her a safe space. She is still working on her potty training, but has been doing very well going outside and "going potty" for a treat. She does get nervous when she hears loud noises or encounters new situations, but she is still a puppy and most things are very new to her.
Papaya has done really well with her human foster siblings and the neighbor kiddos, but we think she would do best with older kids (10+) who understand that she may be nervous at first and to give her time and space.
To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application. It doesn't obligate you, but it is the first step. We don't get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
