PAWS-Protective Animal Welfare Society of Western WI
PAWS, Protective Animal Welfare Society of Western WI, is a 501 c3 Non-Profit Animal Organization run exclusively by volunteers.  We serve Pierce, Polk, and St.Croix counties of western Wisconsin.
Our purpose is to reduce the stray population and increase the need for healthy animal adoptions through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the less fortunate animals that share our lives.
Our Mission
To protect animals from cruelty, neglect, homelessness, and indifference.
Our Vision
To strengthen the bond between animals and people by building a community where all life is valued and respected.
Our Strategy
To educate people about the proper care and treatment of animals, the problem of pet over-population, and to raise public awareness of the plight of the homeless animals in our community.
To eliminate euthanasia as a solution to pet over-population through aggressive spay/neuter and placement programs.
To care for our community's homeless animals by providing food,
water, medical attention, shelter, and love until a permanent home can be found.
To connect our community and animals through public animal welfare programs.
To work collectively with others who support our mission.
Most of the cats and dogs we have in our Adoption Program were found homeless in our St. Croix communities. Â It is fortunate that these pets have found a kind human that has taken the care and concern to bring them to PAWS attention.
We do not have a shelter building. Â Our homeless cats and dogs are placed in loving temporary homes for safe shelter, care, rehabilitation, and love until a permanent home is found.
All PAWS pets are healthy, vaccinated, heartworm  tested, FeLeuk negative, and spayed or neutered before they are ready for our Adoption Program.
How it works
The first step in the adoption procedure is to complete an adoption application. You can either submit an online application or you can print and mail a copy. Please make sure you fill in the application completely. We are unable to process incomplete applications.
After you submit your application it will take a few days for us to review your application and check your references. Â We will determine if you and the animal you are interested in is the best match. Applications are not approved on a first come, first served basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so if there is more than one application for a pet, we reserve the right to determine which home is most suited for that animal.
Upon approval of your application we will contact you to set up a time for you to meet the cat or dog you're interested in.
