Pet Rescue of Maryland
Pet Rescue of Maryland is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. We are staffed only by volunteers and rely on the kindness of our community to financially support our efforts. We do not have a central shelter. All of our animals are fostered in our homes as if they were our pets. This allows us to assess each animal and help find the home that best fits with their needs. We treat each animal as if they are part of our family until they become part of yours.
Our adoption process starts by filling out our application. After the application is reviewed, we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog. If we determine that our pet is a good fit for your home, we perform a home visit to make sure that everything stated on your application is in order (fences, etc). Next, we have your existing pets meet with the rescue pet at a neutral location to make sure they get along. We will take the necessary steps to make sure your pet has been fully vetted before finalizing the adoption. In the case of puppies who are not old enough to be altered at the time of the adoption, we provide that service when they are old enough. It is a requirement of Pet Rescue of Maryland that all of our animals are spayed or neutered. The total time between meeting the animal and taking your new pet home is approximately 2 weeks. Please note that at this time we are only able to place our pets in homes that are within 30-40 miles of Baltimore, MD. The adoption fee for our dogs is $350 and includes veterinary examination; testing for heartworm, ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease and anaplasmosis; spaying/neutering; vaccinations for rabies, distemper, lepto, bordetella; and de-worming. In addition, we microchip all dogs . You can download a dog application. If are unable to download the application, please email and request a dog application.
