Porkchop is a new arrival on January 30th. He is a six month, male, dark brown, teacup, purebred chihuahua who weighs 2.4lbs. Porkchop still has puppy teeth and his canine teeth have not yet dropped in. This little boy is so, so tiny. He saw the vet today and his weight of 2.4lbs is confirmed. Porkchop did arrive with a minor injury to his mouth and top of left ear. Everything is fine. His mouth and ear are healing with antibiotics. Words cannot adequately describe this cuteness. As gorgeous as Porkchop is, his level of sweetness is just as amazing. These tiny little teacup chihuahua puppies don’t often end up in rescue. His foster mom is beside herself keeping him safe and secure from harm. There are so many safety risks for these tiny babies. They cannot just run around the yard for fear of hawks or animals of prey. They cannot run lose in playgroup in the foster home. One bite, one hawk, or even if he jumps from your arms, he could be seriously injured. At his tiny weight and age, he already arrived with an injury. Anyone who considers submitting an application for Porkchop needs to understand the precautions that need to take place to keep this baby safe for life. Absolutely, no small children. This dog is the size of a Guinea pig. Right now, as his foster mom is writing his bio to post his adoption information, Porkchop is laying next to her laptop. He is sound asleep on a blanket his foster mom keeps on top of her desk for the tiny ones. He is a little angel and it warms the heart to see him sleeping so peacefully, so content and feeling secure. Porkchop will need to be neutered and is not quite ready for adoption. Posting him now allows time to review adoption applications and conduct vet references and interviews for potential adopters. This tiny boy is something else. Rescue is accepting applications within a fifty-mile radius of Bradenton/Sarasota. We like to keep our rescue dogs close in case they ever need us. Foster homes, volunteers and adopters become part of our rescue family. We appreciate people who care and always do the right thing for their animals.
