While I look strong and powerful, I will happily run or wrestle or play tug with you or older kids.
When I play hard, I nap hard; I have bursts of energy that last around 20 minutes and will need to follow that up with a nice long nap on the couch.
I am extremely bright, and have mastered Sit & Touch, consistently can perform Lay Down, Come, Stay, & Leave It, and we’re working on Heel (that one is tough!).
A little repetition is all I need to pick up a new skill.
I am definitely food-motivated and love to please.
Foster Notes: At home, Punn is a pretty quiet guy.
He doesn’t bark at mailmen or passing cars, and is very welcoming of visitors (though he will need some consistency on calming his enthusiasm once they’re inside - he’s a strong guy).
He doesn’t chew on anything he shouldn’t (he’s even left all of our shoes alone) and only shows possessiveness about his toys when they’re in his mouth and being tugged.
Punn loves car rides and thinks that every open door or trunk is in an invitation.
Once his initial excitement wears off, he will happily stare out the window (or try to stick his head out) for ages, if he does’t just fall asleep.
Once a proper introduction is made, Punn will play with any dog, big or small; he’s definitely a social rockstar.
Cats are a definite no (and so are squirrels, mice, birds - he definitely has a strong chase instinct).
Punn loves frequent walks, and a nice, long one will definitely tire him out.
He’s great on leash when he isn’t distracted by his own nose, and will need a frequent communicator and a few extra treats to keep him on track.
This boy is a work in progress with his leash skill, but with a strong leader, a lot of reinforcement, and verbal check-ins, Punn is completely fine; however, can get much harder to control in a public park with other dogs around.
He’s also much more amenable with someone familiar on his lead (me or my husband) rather than someone new.
While he won’t try to bolt, he will get very focused on whatever he smells (would be AMAZING for nose work classes and urban tracking) and needs firm redirection.
Heel has been a great learning experience for him, and with patience, that will definitely continue.
Punn is an amazing dog, and with some consistency, he’ll be a rockstar of a companion.
