A sweet and wonderful family hound dog, Rachel loves attention, especially belly rubs and snuggling, as well as spending time outside. Her favorite activity is sniffing around outside and going on long walks to spot squirrels. Smart and loving, she can be a little vocal as she loves talking to her people.
Her optimal fit would be a single-family home with a fenced in yard, preferably with some canine or human siblings. Because of her size and her loud bark, an apartment might not work. She also loves roaming the yard and sunbathing. While she has not been exposed to cats, the predator instincts of her breed would likely not result in a good match. Rachel loves other dogs, of all sizes and ages, and appropriately approaches and reads signs well from other dogs that might not want to play.
Rachel goes in her crate with a treat and some coaxing. She settles quickly and can last for hours or all night in her crate. She is also house trained and walks great on a front leash harness. Her only flaw is pulling towards other dogs because she is so excited to meet them!
