Ralph is pure love and nothing makes him happier than to cuddle up with you on a nice warm blanket on the couch.
He loves to follow you around the house like a little puppy because to Ralph, being with his person 24/7 is what life’s all about.
Ralph would do well as an only pet in the household as he can be a bit possessive of his person.
He previously lived with four other dogs and wanted so badly to have all the attention.
This caused some unpleasantness.
He currently lives with a very sweet Shih Tzu and cat, but he unfortunately doesn’t get along with them.
For this reason, we’re looking for a one pet home for him.
Not an overly active pup, Ralph enjoys spending a significant amount of time sleeping on the couch.
He is a little hard of hearing and can startle easily if he doesn’t know you are there.
He does prefer that he be lifted off the couch even though he is perfectly capable of jumping off.
Thus, showcasing his more dramatic side.
He recently had dental work which removed the last of his 3 remaining teeth.
He eats wet food just fine and can eat a little dry kibble.
His foster mom reports that he is a very messy eater, pulling his food out of his dish.
Can't really blame the little guy! Ralph is also pee pad trained which makes it easy to clean up if you do have to leave the house for an extended period.
Ralph is a heartworm survivor.
He successfully completed heartworm treatment last month.
He and another dog from the same family were diagnosed when we pulled them from the shelter in September of last year.
He did very well and tested negative in January.
We do recommend that his adopter keep up with heartworm preventatives and do annual heartworm testing.
With all our rescues, Ralph has been fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
He has gone through our Senior Animal Wellness Program which provides a more thorough exam due to his senior status.
He has additionally been tested for tick fever, had a urinalysis and x-rays.
Medical records will be provided upon adoption.
