Rocket, 1 years old, neutered male, Husky mix, 46 pounds. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, Texas and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved.
Rocket is a dog who prefers a little bit of time to warm up. Once he has settled in, he shows all of his goofy and silly personality. He is a young dog and we are guessing he is about a year old, but could be 11 months. This hopefully gives you an idea of his personality given that he is a young dog.
He shares a home with several other dogs. It took him about a week to be comfortable where he started to interact by play bowing. It is not uncommon for dogs to take a little bit of time to acclimate in new environments. He prefers to play with the two dogs who are closer to his size. There is a Dane mix in the home and he's a little nervous of his size. He can play hard and will do best with another dog who will engage in play. He likes to wrestle and chase.
He is not high energy like a typical Husky. He will run/play for shorter periods of time. He does like to run, jump, spin around humans when he is playing. He does take redirection if you want him to settle down.
Rocket tends to be more shy around loud noises. We think he would do best in a home with kids 10 years and older. We have no history with cats.
He has excellent leash skills. He does not pull and stays close. If there is a loud car or noise, it can spook him a little bit and he will jump. He is fully housebroken and does wonderful in his crate. This space is very safe to him and he will need/want a crate in his forever home. He waits politely in his crate for meal time. He LOVES food and takes treats very gently. He has not demonstrated any resource guarding.
We think Rocket would be happy with or without another dog in the home. He does have his spurts of energy and will do the zoomies in the yard. Inside the house, he will bounce around when playing with his toys. He likes to throw up in the air and chase after them. He does settle down and is not on the go. If no other dog in the home, he will need some physical outlets (yard time, walks, etc.). He is very happy to snuggle and will soak up all your love.
He loves pets, brushed and overall just loved on. He's truly a big teddy bear! He can be insecure when meeting new people. This looks like him hanging behind his safe person. He is not reactive in anyway, just tends to hang back. He will do best with a stable and consistent home. He very much wants to please and in time we believe he will continue to build his confidence in new situations.
Rocket rides great in the car. He will jump/climb fences (as Huskies like to do) so does need supervision if a fenced yard. He would love a home that will be patient initially as he finds his comfort and stability. A home that will be happy to give him lots of cuddles and love. A home who will be understanding of his nervousness in new situations. He is an incredibly sweet boy.
