Rocko, 10 months (estimated DOB 4/14/2022), neutered male, Australian Kelpie/Doberman mix, currently around 41 pounds but not full grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport to an approved adopter.
Rocko is an energetic puppy who is looking for a home who is able to provide him rules and structure. He has learned a lot since being in foster care! He has been around a lot of other dogs and overall does great with them. He has that puppy energy, which may not be the best fit for every dog. He will do best with another dog who wants to engage in play. He is working on learning to take correction from another dog.
He initially had a few accidents in the home, but quickly learned where to potty. He does well in his crate, but will sometimes be a little vocal. He quiets down quickly. He is not a big chewer, but does enjoy toys/bones. His foster home has worked with him on manners as he does sometimes inspect what is on the counters. He is very curious!
He has been around kids and cats. He has tried to engage with kids by grabbing onto their shirt. Imagine him trying to get them to play. Due to this we recommend a home with kids 12 years and older. He has been around cats and just leaves them alone.
Rocko is a very sweet dog. If you're looking for that excited, puppy energy- he is your guy. He will need a home with physical outlets. He will relax and hang out in the house. He pulls on leash and wants to check everything out. He knows sit and is very eager to learn.
Rocko will do best in a home who is looking for an older puppy who still has that excited energy. A home that wants to provide structure, rules and boundaries to set a great foundation. He needs a home who will be active and engaging with him. He would do okay in an apartment setting with an active family.
