Meet Rose
This beautiful girl is genuinely just a sweetheart with people! She is roughly 11 months old and currently around 50 pounds. She looks to be a lab/black mouth cur/pit mix.
Rose was found with her sister, Lily, abandoned in rural Ephrata alongside a county road. She likely witnessed her sister victimized by a larger dog or possibly a coyote, as Lily had scabbed-over canine bite marks all over her neck when rescued. Initially, both girls were terrified of other dogs. Still, they warmed up to confident and well-socialized adult dogs once they felt safe.
However, Rose still has significant fear anxiety around other dogs and can become very aggressive towards dogs (fear reactive) when scared and put in an area that she cannot retreat from. **She has NEVER been aggressive towards adults or children, even when scared. ** She has shown NO fear reaction towards adults or children at all. **
She LOVES her canine foster aunties, though. She plays, wrestles, and snuggles with them. She has no food aggression towards them at all. They are confident, well-mannered adult dogs that give her structure, security, and confidence. If she were to be adopted into a home with another dog, this would be a MUST for personality.
Rose has started getting some training techniques to help reduce her fear response; however, this process will take time and consistency. For this reason, the best fit for Rose will likely be a home where she is the only pet and a home where she is not left alone for long periods. Although she walks great with her canine foster aunties on our quiet rural road, she is not at a point where she can be taken for walks in public areas - and dog parks are an absolute "no" for her. Even submissive, non-aggressive dogs can trigger her fear and anxiety.
Cats are unknown but have been exposed while crated, with no apparent aggression or growling. However, open access to cats has not been tested, as we do not know what a feline fear response would elicit from her.
However, this girl LOVES people - males, females, and kids- Brilliant, loving, and quick learner. She is doing well on leash training, knows her name, understands the word "no," is curious, and gives the best hugs. She really just wants to be in your personal space and loves to give kisses and is very affectionate. She eats nicely from your hand, does well in a crate, and wants to be loved. She would make an excellent best buddy.
