@ Ruby's story : Ruby became an astray when she was roughly 5 or 6 months old.
At that time, she was so slim that her ribs were visible.
When the rescuers encountered her, she kept wagging her tail, begging for food.
They then found out from the surrounding residents that Ruby had been a street dog in the neighborhood for quite some time.
However, the community had not been very street dog friendly.
Some used sticks or bats to keep them away.
Others threatened to seize her and take to a shelter.
The rescuers were distressed by her situation and ordeals.
They worried that she would come to a sticky end.
Therefore, they decided to transport her to a dog sanctuary.
Ruby was pleased to be there and mostly got along with other doggies companions.
Ruby is such a young and healthy pup that we are still in high hopes that she can have a place to call home, with a loving family.
We later chose to move her to a foster home and at the same time made medical appointments and prepared for her adoption process.
At the early stage in the foster care, Ruby was both super timid and nervous.
She was also scared when being approached by other dogs.
Ruby was extremely resistant to the use of collars, harnesses, and leashes and had been uneasy and alert when there were strangers around.
It took her almost 2 months to learn to be social and be at ease with human.
Gradual daily practices go along the way! She is now very relaxed during her walks outside and not as scared as before when being walked by strangers.
We are hoping that Ruby stays in a single dog family.
She chases cats and shows high anxiety when being in the same room with dominant dogs.
We would not recommend a family with children under 12 years of age as she gets terrified by the over-excitement and sudden movements.
Ruby is now in love with and totally trusts her current care-taker.
Due to her cautious nature, she is a slow- to-warm-up pup.
It will at least take her 3 to 5 days to warm up to the new environment, friends, and care-taker.
Given time, she will gradually show her true self and personality and you will be in love with this cute pup! ============================================
