Due to border patrol restrictions, you'll be required to cross the border and meet in Blaine, WA to receive your pup :) Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio.
Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Ryder.
Ryder is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.
Meet Ryder! Ryder is a 2 year old, male, boxer mix.
Ryder currently weighs 47 pounds and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find a family to call his own! Ryder was found as a stray.
He was roaming a neighborhood and went up to a good Samaritan's house.
Thankfully, he picked the right house, because they took him in from the cold and reached out to us to help! Ryder is dog friendly and currently lives with other dogs.
He doesn't initiate play, but will happily play if the other pup initiates it! He's very submissive.
If another dog barks, his first reaction is to stop what he's doing.
He's very non-confrontational.
We would describe Ryder as having a medium energy level.
He's great out on walks and also loves puzzles or bones while at home.
Ryder hasn't officially been cat tested, but we've noticed he doesn't chase or bark at the street cats.
Ryder is kid friendly! He currently lives with a 1 year old baby and he's very tolerant.
If the baby is being sweet, he will happily cuddle, but if the baby is being grabby, he likes his space away.
He is a bigger boy, so anyone with small children should be aware of his size so he doesn't knock over a small child.
Ryder walks great on a leash! Initially he's very excited and pulls (just a little), but he quickly settles down and will stay with his humans.
Ryder is fully potty trained! He only potties outside and he will wait by the backdoor to let you know he needs to go outside to potty.
He'll come right back in once he's finished.
He even is willing to go outside and potty in the rain (something uncommon for lots of TX dogs).
Ryder loves sharing his toys, food & treats with his furry foster siblings.
He shares so well, that sometimes he tries to eat their food after he's finished his lol.
His foster mom usually crates him while he's eating to make sure his siblings are also able to eat their food.
Ryder is very gentle taking treats! He really enjoys his toys and playing tug-o-war with him humans.
Ryder's ideal home would be an active family who will take him out on adventures with them! He's such a sweet, social pup and does great at all the events we take him to! We've taken him to a brewery with multiple other dogs, kids and people and he had the best time! Ryder does well in the kennel! He currently stays in the kennel while his foster mom is away from the home for work or errands.
Here's a small blurb about Ryder from his foster mom: Ryder is an absolute dream! He’s a big blanket guy.
His whole personality embodies the saying “I’m just happy to be here”.
He really is amazing.
I’ve never met a dog that just is so grateful to be loved on.
He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body.
Even when taking a bath he just lays his big head on my arm while I scrub him.
He doesn’t flinch when grabbing his paws, ears or his tail.
And I can literally stick my hand in his bowl while he’s eating or take his bones away and he happily obliges.
He’s amazing with meeting strangers! Actually, I mistakenly let him outside right before the landscaping guys got here and he made friends with them.
Lastly, Ryder is truly wonderful.
He follows his person wherever they go.
On walks he has no intention to get away from you, he looks for constant reassurance and comfort from his person.
If you're looking for a dog that does not beg for food, Ryder is your guy! You can open a bag of chips and he won't even notice or care.
He lets you eat in peace! Interested in learning more about Ryder or applying to adopt him?
