Meet Salt
Salt is a really sweet and loyal dog, that deserves a home and people to call her own.
She weighed in at 40 pounds when she joined us on November 17th, horribly emaciated. At her spay, she weighed in at 50 pounds at her spay December 6th and she continues to weight gain. She's not a tall dog and presumably she'll land in the low 60 pound range for ideal body condition score and weight.
We ran geriatric bloodwork on her and other than being somewhat anemic due to her emaciation, she's remarkably healthy. She does have a broken tooth we will further explore down the road if it bothers her, which it does not at this point.
This beautiful girl, along with 4 males; Reaper, Rocky, Dasher and Rudolf and 2 other females; BabyFace and Betsy (in their own profiles) joined Mattie's Place November 17th when they were transferred into our care from another rescue that was in way over their heads and made many, many, many errors with the dogs in their care.
The dogs lived in a structure that had no temperature control, drainage, or acceptable outdoor use space. They spent 24 hours a day kennelled outside of sporadic breaks - but it didn't happen daily or anywhere near often enough.
All I can say is I'm so thankful they were transferred into our care so we could give them a bright future.
