Santana is a 5 year old Bloodhound mix waiting in Salt Lake City for a new home.
This handsome hunk is enjoying learning to be an inside dog and how to navigate new things in the house (stairs, music, doorbells, etc) and is more confident and less skittish with each new experience.
He is 5-10 lbs underweight now at 65 pounds, and enjoying regular meals.
Santana is a dominant male, so a household with submissive dogs would be best for him; he would also do exceedingly well as the only dog in a home.
NO cats or small dogs, please.
He absolutely loves people and favors them over canine companionship and always wants to be in the same room with people.
Santana enjoys going for rides in the car and rides well in a crate.
He is cratetrained and learning how to walk on a leash; he absolutely loves going for walks and smelling all the wonderful smells.
He walks best with a prong collar.
Housetraining is going well and he is quickly picking up on commands like sit and heel; he will need consistent positive training to be his best.
He is very eager to please and is also very treat-motivated.
Santana would not do well around children due to his size and strength.
He will be the perfect canine companion for an active person.
He loves walking and hiking and is happiest outside following his nose.
At the same time, he loves to settle down and snooze the day away next to his person.
He is pretty quiet for a hound dog and is not a counter surfer or fence jumper and does not jump on humans either.
