Meet Sapphire
If you have additional questions please email [email protected] folks get diamonds on Valentines day... But for us, we got Sapphire!
We welcomed two year old Sapphire to the H-E-A-R-T pack. She was an unclaimed stray, in an overcrowded shelter, on limited time. Sapphire is a very sweet 39lb girl that is curious and enjoys checking out her surroundings. She did great for her heartworm test and vaccines, and was an angel for her dog test at the shelter as well. Sapphire is now settled into her foster home in MD and is ready for a family of her own.
Sapphire is:
Completely housebroken
Crate Trained
Somewhat vocal
Moderate energy
Pulls on a leash
Snuggles on the furniture
Her foster home says: She LOVES pets. She will ask or demand them! She would be very happy if someone could just pet her all day long. She will stop almost everything she is doing as long as a hand is put on her because she thinks it is time to be pet. She is low energy indoors for the most part. She likes to play catch or tug indoors a few times a day. She tires after short periods of activity outdoors so does not need a very active family. She needs maybe a half mile walk twice a day at the moment building up to a mile over time.

She has some feet sensitivity and it took about a week before she was comfortable allowing her foster family to wipe her paws, but she learned quickly! Unlike most Huskies, she can be protective of newcomers in the home. She will vocally questions anyone who is new in the house until she has had the chance to sniff, maybe jump up on them and be a bit of a diva.
Sapphire seems to have a prey drive or likely had pups removed from her in the past. She is protective of plush toys, something we see very commonly in this breed. An adopter should avoid using plush in the home and therefore small children probably aren't the best in Sapphire's forever home.
Her ideal forever home is one where she has plenty of pets from her human(s). Ideally have humans that spend time with her most of the day. She can likely only be left alone for short periods of time or she would get stressed. A door or a window or an enclosed deck for her to look out and see what's up with the world. She loves to play fetch with a ball. A yard for her to run around in would be great but is not required. Space in the house to do zoomies and for her crate. She likes a den.
Sapphire is being fostered in MD. Her adoption area is CT to GA. We can transport within reason and would make extended exceptions to her adoption area on a case by case basis.~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it's like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you're interested in. If you're still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply
