Saved By Fate Dog Rescue
Many veteran rescuers will tell you that 2022 was the worst year in animal rescue they’ve ever experienced. It was a vicious cycle: Shelters were overflowing and rescues were full, thus they were unable to take in more dogs. This resulted in people dumping dogs at a very high rate. When stray dogs were brought into already full shelters, sadly, shelter workers were often forced to euthanize them for space. It wasn’t only adult and senior dogs at risk of euthanasia, but puppies as well. The concept of “no kill” shelters became a thing of the past.
Founders, Mara and Ciara, sought to make a difference in the Central Kentucky area. Saved By Fate dog rescue was founded to assist Kentucky shelters reduce the need to euthanize dogs by specializing in pulling pregnant dogs, dogs who recently gave birth and their litters of puppies, and other adult dogs at high risk. Bully breeds, specifically pitbull-type dogs, hold a special place in the hearts of the SBF founders and will be prioritized by our Intake Team.
Our adoption fees are $250 for puppies up to a year old, and $200 for dogs over a year old. We do offer a discount to previous adopters and in certain foster-to-adopt situations.
SBF adoptions start off with a 2-week trial period to ensure that the SBF dog is a good fit for your family and current pets. The adoption fee is due the day an adopter starts the 2-week trial period. If the adoption does not work out within those two weeks, the adopter will be refunded all but a $50 donation, or they can put the fee towards another adoptable dog.
After an application is submitted, a member of our Adoptions team will respond within 72 hours. Please do not reach out to SBF before then. We are all volunteers and get to applications as soon as we can.
If at any point during the application process, you adopt elsewhere or wish to withdraw your app, please let us know ASAP.
