964 days Scout has sat and waited for someone to give her a chance at a forever home.
It’s crazy to read the first post I wrote about Scout and who she was the day she got tossed over the fence at the rescue November 18th vs who she is today.
She was feral, terrified, so skinny and full of worms.
It was a slow start but she’s a completely different dog today.
Caine Carruthers has worked so hard on her training.
Shauna has shown her unconditional love from day one, and our volunteer team Memebers who work with her just adore her.
Recently two of our team memebers, Hayley Perez and Chris took Scout home so everyone could get a better idea of who she was in a home setting and we were all pleasantly surprised by how well she did, given all she’s ever know is the desert and then us.
She is still scared when meeting new people but not aggressive, and even when pushed by a tiny sassy chihuahua she showed no aggression just fear.
It’s unfortunate when dogs like scout present their fear with over compensation because they are over looked and written off for being aggressive when it’s often not the case.
We just need someone to see past her chicken dog behavior and get to know the sweet, cuddly, leash trained, house trained, smart, bad a** shepherd.
We know they are out there.
We can’t wait for her day to come.
She is still so young and could have such amazing life ahead of her.
She will do best in a home with no other dogs to start but we do believe she can eventually coexist with proper training and introduction, no cats or kids for now.
