Second Chance Ranch Rescue
To rehabilitate and give a second chance to lost, forgotten, or misunderstood dogs in order to help them find their furever home.
To reduce adoption return and failure rates by implementing a thorough adopter evaluation process, which includes ensuring a strong human/dog match, adopter education and adoption integration plans.
To offer a safe and well suited environment for dogs within our community to play, practice socialization skills and improve overall behavior.
To work with our communities to raise awareness about the misconceptions of bully type breeds and rescue dogs, the challenges associated with rescue work, and the many ways individuals can support dogs in need.
1. Application and References
Fill out our application with as much detail as possible to help us learn about your family and pack. We will confirm we have received your application within 24 hours.
If your application looks like you would provide a good home for one of the dogs at The Ranch, we will reach out to let you know we want to move forward with reviewing your references. We can also answer any questions you have up front in an introductory email or call.
2. People meet the dog at the ranch
After reviewing your references and calling your vet, we will set up a time for you to visit The Ranch and meet the dog you are interested in. The first meet and greet is between the human(s) & dog to make sure there's a good match before introducing any existing pets.
3. Dog meet and greets (If your home has current dogs)
If both parties agree there is a potential match, we'll set up the next meet and greet for your dog to come to The Ranch to meet their possible new friend. Often times, we like to have a few sessions between the dogs to ensure they get along, enjoy each other's company, and can coexist in a pack together. We offer as many meet and greets as needed to help ensure a positive first experience when you bring your dog home on adoption day. By having dogs meet multiple times on different territories, we have seen smoother adoptions with faster integrations because negative interactions have been prevented and anxiety is reduced.
4. Home Visit and Finalizing Adoption
