Severus

Severus was returned to the shelter as an owner surrender. Previously he was brought in as a stray with no known history. Severus' previous owners describe him as a social and affectionate dog that loves to spend time with his people. However in the shelter is has been observed to been timid around handlers and kennel fight. Due to fearful behavior we recommend a home with no young children.

I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

My foster writes: Severus is an enthusiastic, energetic, and very curious 2 year old pup. He loves people and attention, especially when strangers on the sidewalk want to compliment his beauty and give him a nice head scratch. Severus knows a few commands: sit, down, look at me, and he is working on stay, and leave it. He is a very smart boy who loves treats and is quick to learn. He is a big goofball and will sit right on your lap to cuddle, he knows nothing of personal space. Sev is easily occupied with a kong of peanut butter or a long lasting treat if you need time to complete chores. While on walks, Severus loves to say hi to all people and is curious about every dog he sees! Sometimes his energy and size can be intimidating for other dogs but when he approaches to meet them he mostly sniffs and wags his tail. Severus has been in the care center twice already and he really struggled while there. Once he was taken to his foster home he started to decompress and thrive. This sweet boy will ask for attention and pets and needs his humans to make him feel secure and loved. When left home alone he can be a little anxious initially but he doesn't bark and he will eventually settle down and nap. If you're looking for a buddy to explore Central Park with, go on long walks with then snuggle up on the couch, Sev is your pup! He is such a happy puppy and has so much love to give! You'll never have a dull moment with Sev and he will constantly show you how special and loving he can be!
