*****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements***** The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois.

This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home.

Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered.

The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics.

We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats.

Shanty can be a bit shy when you first meet her, a delicate flower in a field of change.

This initial timidity hints at a past shadowed by uncertainty, possibly with someone who didn't understand the gentle handling required by such a sensitive soul.

Quick movements may startle her, a reminder of the patience and understanding she seeks in a forever home.

Yet, with each passing day, Shanty’s confidence blooms a little more, nurtured by the kindness and dedication of our volunteers.

Once Shanty feels safe, her true nature as a Belgian Malinois comes to life—a breed known for its intelligence, loyalty, and energetic spirit.

She adores her walks, showcasing that innate curiosity and zest for life that Belgians are celebrated for.

Each step outside is an adventure, a chance for her to explore, learn, and grow.

Shanty is the epitome of sweetness, her soft eyes holding a world of love for the person who will offer her the patience and gentle guidance she craves.

Despite her cautious start, Shanty is every bit the resilient, intelligent, and loving companion characteristic of her breed.
