ABOUT SIMBA AND ZAHRA
Simba (Dark Brown) 8-year-old neutered male Zahra (Light Brown) 7-year-old Spayed female **Indoor / Outdoor*** Simba and Zahra have lived together since Simba was one-years-old and Zahra was a kitten. Despite the fact that they are 'roommates' - they don't seem to have a dependency on each other. Usually we would not separate a bonded pair but the owner tells us that they could care less about each other. They are polite with each other but they are not bonded. Their owner is heartbroken that she is having to move to a home that doesn't allow pets so she reached out to us for help. She will be moving soon and doesn't want to take them to a shelter. Let us tell you about this beautiful pair. Simba is an eight-year-old dark brown-rosetted Bengal and weighs 17 pounds. The owners got him from a cattery when he was a kitten. He has had urinary problems in the past but is doing well now. Simba was diagnosed as a kitten with FVRCP, but he pulled through (probably a vaccination-induced false positive). The vet says he cannot have that vaccine going forward. Zahra is the light brown colored spotted Bengal. She is a seven-year-old spayed female who weighs about 10 pounds. The owner got her from a breeder as a kitten. She has been having some litter box issues due to the neighborhood cats and the behavior of Simba reacting to those outdoor cats. Simba eats Royal Canin Urinary dry and wet to help him with previous UTI's and he is a really wonderful cat.Zahra eats Blue Wilderness High Protein or Purina One food. She may have a slight heart murmur. The owner regrets that she allowed them outdoor access, and unfortunately they have become accustomed to it. Bengal Rescue normally does not endorse ANY cat having unfettered access to the outdoors but at this point, a home that would allow them outdoor rights / catio is probably best for them. We do believe they could become strictly indoors if they are place in a stress-free home free of the triggers that they are currently dealing with. Simba and Zahra are from different breeders but have been raised together. Simba will play with Zahra when he wants but will also ignore her at times too. Like siblings there can be little spats between them. Never anything serious. They do live with a small dog but the dog does not respect their boundaries. They might do OK with a cat-friendly, easygoing dog. They have not been around children so we would imagine kids older than 10 would be appropriate. Simba and Zahra can be vocal and talkative especially when they are hungry and want to go outside. Zahra prefers wet food in the morning and at night. They both like playing with wand toys and a laser toy. Zahra loves catching toys when jumping off the cat tree. Zahra loves being in high places but Simba doesn't care so much about that. Simba LOVES his cat wheel and uses it all the time - owner will provide adopter with the wheel and whatever other items would be desired. Simba seems to be more independent while Zahra is more loving, gentle, and affectionate. They are both healthy, up to date on vaccinations, have been neutered/spayed and have been microchipped.
