Meet Snoop
Snoop is a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher mix. He is true to his Min Pin breed. To know the breed is to love the breed but you have to research and understand how the brains of these small but confident dogs work.
Snoop is the perfect weight at the 15 pound mark.
Snoop is housetrained and crate trained (though he's not a fan of his crate) and knows many wonderful tricks.
Snoop is said to resource guard food and toys (according to his owner), though we haven't seen him guard anything since joining Mattie's Place. He can get stiff with something SUPER high value for a treat (licky mat or puzzle toy) if you attempt to take it from him, but most dogs would in this scenario. He has an incredibly gentle mouth when taking food or hypoallergenic treats and we've been working on wait and he's doing exceptional.
He’s also a huge fan of his toys and especially his ball and is always happy to retrieve it back to me so I can throw it one more time.
Snoop can be reactive to loud noises like vacuums and blenders and offer up anxious barks. I just crate him when I'm vacuuming and he's been perfectly fine.
We won't place him in a home with kids 14 or under, though his owner stated he was fine with kids once he knew them. He would be happiest as the only pet in the home.
Snoop can be dog selective, on leash, but it's super manageable and he isn't overly committed as long as you keep walking or don't linger for too long, but if you have to stop and chat with someone with a dog, again, he's pretty manageable and isn't off the charts with reactivity. He's 15 pounds and it takes him a long time to ramp up to anything beyond some growls and spins.
A stranger approaching a vehicle with Snoop in it or knocking at the door sets him off into a high reactivity mode. But I can easily step in and settle him down with a command.
Snoop is not cat tested.
Snoop is a GREAT walker and an adopter that loves to walk will be a great match for him.
Snoop has never bitten and does not come with a bite history. But he does need a minute to warm up to new people as he can be selective with strangers, and vocal about it (with a low growl), as well as lip lifting, but again, we're not seeing much depth to this behaviour. Proper introductions need to be completed. And he may not like everyone and that's okay. I don't like everyone either. I think Snoop with proper introductions, time and patience, with a handler he trusts can share a space with anyone he meets.
