an impoverished background where she lived outside and didn't have positive contact with people; she is not comfortable being touched and fussed. Snow is very clear with her body language and is great at communicating when she is uncomfortable so potential adopters will need to know or be keen to learn about dog body language so you can read Snow’s signals. We believe that once she feels safe, she will bond and become affectionate in time but expect this to take a very long time. She is housetrained 99% of the time. She will need a fully enclosed garden, as when she is off lead, she searches the fence line and gates for a way out. Snow will more than likely cope with being left alone for a few hours if this time is built up gradually. Once Snow is in the car she travels well. She will need a quiet home environment.
Is Snow right for you?
Snow is a beautiful two-year-old Collie cross Terrier. She is very sweet but avoidant of people. She is now accepting of taking a treat from your hand and this has taken ten-months to get here. Snow will need patient and understanding adopters who are willing to take things slow. Snow enjoys socialising with other dogs and has made a lot of doggy pals here at the rehoming centre. When meeting and greeting she can become vocal and whinny and this calms down and stops once she has met; generally, Snow has great doggy social skills and communicates well with other canines. Snow will happily play and enjoys squeaky toys when she is not in the presence of a human. Snow arrived at the rehoming centre having zero experience of home life. With our on-site bungalow the team have worked hard to build up Snow’s confidence. Snow is now used to being indoors with household noises going on such as the Tv, washing machine, microwave, cupboard doors opening and closing etc. We believe that Snow is now ready for everyday life of being in a home.
