******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat.
Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs.
IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Spirit, 6.5 year old, spayed female, pitbull mix, 55 pounds.
Spirit is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Our sweet Spirit girl has the gentlest well, spirit - she loves people and attention, is calm and mild mannered, and just loves love.
She is incredibly resilient and equally as solid.
She has been through basic training and knows sit, stay and has good recall.
You could say she's A Very Good Girl.
Spirit has been around lots of dogs - big and small - and is overall a super goofy girl.
She is often sporting a wide grin while flopping over on her back wiggling around.
She loves running and jumping, and doesn't react when seeing other dogs on leashes.
She would do ok with another dog or as the only dog since she is very self confident.
We have no history with cats but believe Spirit to be kid friendly.
She was at an event and let all kinds of kids come up to her.
She has never shown any type of aggression towards people, including kids.
She loves attention! As a general rule, we recommend homes with kids over the ages of 10yr or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues.
Spirit is potty, crate/pen and leash trained.
She walks pretty well on a leash - she does pull some at first because she is excited but once she gets going she is better.
She only potties in the house when it's been too long between breaks so to mitigate that her foster has trained her to use a potty pad.
For the most part, she knows to wait until she’s outside.
Spirit has shown no aggression with people when it comes to food but has not been tested in this regard with other dogs.
She doesn't resource guard anything so we don't expect it to be an issue.
She enjoys toys but isn't really attached to them, so this has also not been an issue for her foster.
Spirit's ideal home would be a low to moderately active one - she has a lot of energy for short periods.
She wants to be able to run around for maybe 10 minutes and then is happy to just snuggle up and relax.
She doesn't exhibit any signs of anxiety when left and is non-destructive, so her new Pawrents do not have to work from home (although she would be ecstatic if they did!).
Like us all, Spirit is a tad overweight so some walks and ball tossing will be beneficial.
She is overall a happy girl and just wants a home where she will get love.
Anyone that will pet and love on her is A-1 in her book! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.
