Meet Starla Rose

Looking for a furever family who likes adventures with no small animals or small kids and with someone home a lot.

Starla Rose is a young, sweet, intelligent gal who just wants to be near her person. At this time, she thinks that she is a lap dog. and follow you around the house, but once her leg is fully healed, she will be on the high side of a medium-energy dog and will be a good adventure buddy.

Starla Rose will keep her family entertained with her antics. She loves to have her tummy rubbed, sometimes will chase her tail, and occasionally stretches and arches her back like a cat.

Starla Rose may do well with calm non-reactive dogs her size, but we just don’t know yet. A meet and greet with any dogs in her potential home would be necessary.

Starla Rose shows too much interest in resident cats, and she wants to chase anything that runs. We are looking for a furever home without small kids only because Starla Rose is big enough and energetic enough that she could easily knock down small kids without meaning to.

Starla Rose has taken her crate rest very well, even though she prefers to be out of her crate. She doesn't potty in her crate, so it could be a good sign that she is housetrained. Based on her behavior around the cat door in her foster home, she either knows how to use a dog door or will figure it out in no time.

Starla Rose learned how to 'sit' very quickly, but shows her stubbornness. She is learning to 'wait' with a treat and will leave it alone until released with an 'ok' or it is offered to her. She needs leash work and will either need a harness or gentle leader for now, because she pulls on walks. She will also need to work on not jumping up and recall.

BACKGROUND: Starla Rose was found as a stray at the end of September with a broken front leg, likely hit by a car. The rescue got her the emergency vet care that she needed and even paid for her surgery to repair her leg. Thanks to the dedicated foster families, Starla Rose is on the mend and is ready to interview furever families.
