Stella (brown) and Hula (black) are Chiwawa sisters. They will be thirteen years old in March. They weigh 6lbs. This story should serve as a good reminder for pet owners. We live in a retirement state and no matter what our age, as pet owners, we should have a back up plan developed for our beloved pets. Stella and Hula had a wonderful life. They have been together since birth. Their life changed when their owner passed and there was no back-up plan for her dogs. We were contacted by the neighbor. There was no family, not anyone, who wanted these dogs. They were welcomed with open arms at their foster mom’s house. They arrived with a large medical folder containing all their good, vet history. They came with a bag of doggie dresses, toys and organized food. These dogs were very loved. Life as they knew it changed in the blink of an eye. These dogs are incredible. They are quiet, sweet, well mannered, loving, get along with everyone and in good health. For their age, their eyes are great. They know the treat bag from across the room. They can walk on a leash or will use potty pads. They ignore the cat and love people. They steal everyone’s heart when adopters come to the house to meet dogs, but it’s always the same comment from people, “Their age scares me, I would hate to lose them so quickly”. Their foster mom keeps saying to herself, “I am a foster mom, I am not an adopter, I am a foster mom, I am not an adopter”. Letting these two little girls leave will be one of the most difficult things, but they deserve their own mommy. They love their foster mom and follow her everywhere. As you can see in the pictures, Stella has her special place on the bed pillow. That is her sleep spot. Hula is more outgoing and follows her foster mom every second. Hula will get off a comfortable spot to make sure she knows where her foster mom is. Stella is aware and makes sure she is not missing anything, but Stella is just as happy to be sleeping on the bed pillow and viewing from a distance where Hula wants to be in the middle of the action, even if in the bathroom. These dogs deserve a special place in someone’s heart. Someone who will give them an abundance of love and attention for their remaining years. As a breed, Chiwawa have a history of longevity. These two sisters are alert, well mannered and don’t skip a beat. If you have a quiet home and want to share it with the most amazing little girls, Stella and Hula would be your forever love. They will always be a bonded pair of sisters.
