Meet Stormie
******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************
Stormie, 2 years old, spayed female, Chihuahua, 8 pounds. She is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport to an approved adopter.
We have no idea how this sweet girl ended up at a city shelter and came close to losing her life. She can be a little shy when first acclimating to a new home. If you are patient and give her a few days, she will be your best friend!
She is housebroken and has masted a doggy door in the foster home almost immediately. She does not like to be in a crate and will cry/whine. She has no issues being left out of a crate.
We mentioned that she is initially shy/nervous when first arriving to a home. Once she acclimates, she is no longer nervous. She's had no problem greeting strangers in the home and welcoming them by crawling into their lap (or onto their shoulders).
Stormie has been around kids of all ages and really loves them. Her ideal home is to have someone who wants her as a best friend. She loves her people! We think she would do well with kids of all ages and always recommend a home with kids who respect animal boundaries.
She has been around dogs of all sizes. The larger dogs she is a little cautious around, but had no issues. She transitions fairly quickly with dogs similar in size and is happy to make friends. We think she would do well in a home with dog her size, if larger than a dog not wanting to engage in play or would do great as the only dog.
We have no history with cats, but we believe she would do well.
It has been incredibly hot in Texas, so she has not gone out on many walks. She does fine in a harness and leash. We would describe her as having low/moderate energy.
She is very affectionate and loves to snuggle. She would love to have someone home more than they are away. She rides great in the car. She is a really wonderful dog!
