Meet Summit
Summit is a stunning and athletic German shepherd with an estimated birthday of 05/20/2021 who came to Murci's Mission as an owner who surrendered when his family could no longer care for him.
He is friendly to kids. He has relatively high energy and as such would be best in a home with kids that can take a little rough and tumble. His previous home included infants and toddlers and he was always kind to them but frequently knocked them down. He can be over the top and irritating to other dogs and can't cohabitate with cats, so he would be best suited in a home without other animals. We could consider placements with well-balanced female dogs on a case-by-case basis.
Summit also has positive experience with larger stock animals including goats and pigs.
Summit does have irritable bowel syndrome and as such he eats prescription gastrointestinal dog food which can be ordered online. He eats about 1.5-2lb of kibble daily, so it costs about $180-$240 monthly to feed this dude.
Summit is a good boy who is still working on learning bodily awareness in the household but certainly knows how to adventure. He has been living with our friends and has learned lots of good leash manners and basic obedience skills. His ideal family would be one that would take him out and about to see the world and include him in the family goings on. He is a large and powerful dog, so he needs someone who can hold him accountable to be respectful and to cooperate. He's not a good match for a pushover.
He comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200 and includes his leash, collar, ID tag, and a sample of the food he's been eating.
