At a young 8 years old, Sweet Pea came into a high kill shelter as a stray. With a face as sweet as hers, we knew we had to rescue her.
Since rescuing her, she went straight into the best foster home where we learned she had a lump on her body. We immediately took her to the vet and learned it was a tumor and coordinated to have it removed.
After further testing, we learned it was a cancerous tumor, and the vets pulled out as much of it as they could.
Despite going through such an intense surgery, Sweet Pea, has been the biggest trooper and still wagged her tail every day.
Going back in for a check up, we ran more tests and it was suggested that chemo or radiation wasn’t the best option but being on a healthier diet was the suggested option and taking her in for quarterly check ins to ensure the cancer wasn’t coming back.
Most people would run away from adopting a dog like her, but the few that know would understand that it would be an honor to be her forever family, as her foster mom would agree too , as Sweet Pea is just a happy go lucky girl with a sweet demeanor and truly enjoys being around you and other dogs. She still has that pep in her step, loves the dog park, and enjoys a few good naps throughout the day.
