Tate

This is Tate! He is a young lab mix - we aren't exactly sure what his mix is - Maybe shepherd (I mean, check out those ears!), or husky (he has a white under coat - his markings are gorgeous!) , who knows?

But he sure acts like a lab, so we're going with that for now! At the time of this post, Tate is a year old.

And he found himself in trouble when his prior owner abandoned him in his rental house.

Tate survived for weeks living off of bags of flour and breaking into canned goods.

He got his water by drinking from the toilet.

When Tate was rescued and taken to the shelter, the shelter lost funding and closed.

Tate was the last dog there.

While some loving volunteers visited him regularly, he found himself all alone again.

When he arrived, he just wanted companionship.

He was incredibly affectionate and just wanted to be with us ALL THE TIME.

Tate is a total party.

He LOVES other dogs, loves treats and toys, and has LOTS of puppy energy.

He is a dream on the leash and loves to go for long walks.

He's shown no reactivity since arriving.

Despite having very little exposure during his early stages of development, he has no concerns walking on the trails and passing bikers, traffic and all of the crazy stuff this human world throws at him.

He can be slightly timid with men - no aggression - he'll just stand about 40 ft away and woof a little - then he finds something better to do and ignores them.

Men have to work a bit harder at winning him over than women do but he comes around in no time and with continued positive experiences, he'll be just fine.

While we've never left him loose in the home, we do think, based on his behavior and history, he's not going to love being left alone for extended periods.

We think he'd benefit from another rough and tumble dog in the home and/or an owner that is home more than not to keep him company until he learns he'll never be abandoned again.

Tate has moderate energy and will need daily exercise - toy play, hiking, biking - he's up for anything and he'd love to accompany you on all of your adventures.
