Who We Are
The Underdogs Rescue is a group of individuals who have been volunteering their time to help Oklahoma's unwanted animals since 2013. Our sister organization, The Underdogs of Maine, established in 2022, is helping us transport pets to Maine and other New England states.
As our name suggests, we care for the underdogs of our society, the animals that nobody else wants and who would have a slim to zero chance of being adopted at a shelter.
We are entirely foster-based. This means that compassionate folks open their homes and hearts to animals in need who often come with a history of neglect, abuse, and abandonment. While in foster homes, these animals learn what it means to be a part of a loving family and will be set up for a successful transition into their new forever homes.
Advocacy and education are among our primary goals. We are creating close ties to the community with an emphasis on education in responsible pet ownership to reduce the number of homeless animals in Oklahoma by increasing the number of spay and neuter procedures.
The Underdogs Rescue understands the lifelong financial and emotional commitment that goes into adopting a new furever member of the family. Our goal is to find the absolute best fit for your entire family. When you choose to make an Underdog a part of your family, you, in turn, become a part of ours! This means we will never leave you without help, guidance, and support for as long as you and your pet need us.
We rely solely on private donations, all of which are tax-deductible and go directly toward the support of our fosterlings. You can help us help them and give a homeless pet a chance for a new life by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.
Our tax IDs are 87-3458462 for Maine and 87-3458462 for Oklahoma.
Can we rescue and help them all? No. But if we can help some of them, it makes a difference for the ones who cross our paths.
Here is how our 3-step adoption process works:
We ask you to fill out an application which is step one in our 3-step adoption. (Step one)
Once we have received and reviewed your application, we will arrange a "Meet & Greet" with you and the pet. (Step two)
If this goes well with everybody involved, you get to take the pet home for a week (or longer if needed) and get to know each other better.
After this trial period, you can decide if you want to make the pet a part of your family. (Step three)
Our adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $150 for cats and includes spay/neuter and all age-appropriate tests, vaccinations, and microchipping.
