Meet Tigre! Tigre was surrendered to the South LA Shelter by his former guardians when they were moving.
They reported that he was an outside dog, living in the backyard his whole life.
Tigre spent the next 588 days at the shelter, where he was a staff and volunteer favorite.
He was scheduled to be euthanized on November 1st, but instead, he became a Frosted Face! Tigre is 15 years old and weighs 52 lbs.
Tigre greets everyone that enters the play yard and shows so much love and trust in humans despite being let down by his family and spending nearly two years in the shelter.
He makes himself at home in your lap! He is a great hiking buddy with plenty of energy.
In a car, he is a calm, quiet passenger.
Tigre enjoyed a recent trip with volunteers to the mall to meet Santa.
We can guess what he asked Santa to bring him for Christmas: a forever home, of course! Tigre is very loving and affectionate with people, but spending your whole life alone outside doesn't do much to develop social skills with other dogs.
He will need to be the only pet in the home, but for that reason, we offer a paid foster opportunity through our Molly & Me Project.
(See requirements below.) Tigre went on a two-week Frosted Fling, and his Fling Mom only had wonderful things to say about him! She reported: "Tigre was not a picky eater, but he does love chicken.
Even with his favorite food he waits patiently for the food to be prepared.
Tigre did not have any accidents inside.
Tigre was very high energy on walks and we would typically walk for minutes three times a day.
In between the walks, he is very mellow and mostly napped.
We passed big dogs and small dogs on our walks but we did not engage.
In the first week, he was not interested when he would see other dogs.
In the second week he seemed more interested and would pull on the leash to try to go towards them.
There was no growling or barking and he seemed to have a friendly demeanor.
Once the dog passed, he would resume walking.
Tigre welcomed all human attention, but did not seek it out so if people passed and did not say hello he kept walking.
Tigre is a very low maintenance dog! He is such a great walking partner and also a great co-worker for those who work from home.
In between walks, he mostly wants to nap, snuggle, or play with his toys.
He only barked once when there were tree trimmers making a lot of strange noise.
Tigre did not stay in a crate while he was here and he did fine other than one day when he found some flip flops to chew on.
This was also a very rainy day when he had limited exercise and not enough toys yet to chew on.
He has such a great, happy demeanor! His two favorite things seem to be going for walks and creating a bed from a pile of blankets." Tigre is currently on a second Frosted Fling to enjoy the comforts of a home while he waits for his forever family.
Tigre is available to adopt or for a paid foster home through our Molly & Me Project.
