Tina Tumbles

Meet Tina Tumbles! Tina Tumbles was adopted from the San Diego Humane Society in and then returned to the shelter as a stray in January .

Sadly, they were unable to contact her owner, so we scooped up Tina to become a Frosted Face on January 29th.

She is 9 years old and weighs 11 lbs.

Tina Tumbles is scared little girl who enjoys the company of calm dogs and going on our weekly FFF hikes.

As you can see in the video, she has pep in her step! Tina Tumbles just returned from a two-week Frosted Fling, and we hoped time in a home environment would help her decompress.

Her Fling Mom reports: "We've enjoyed two weeks with this sweet little lady and here is what we've learned: * Tina's desire to be loved and her fear of being hurt seem to constantly be battling inside her sweet little body.

She enjoys soft, gentle pets on her head, neck, and chest, and sometimes on her body.

It needs to be on her terms and sometimes she might suddenly feel afraid and yelp or pull away but that's ok, we just try again another time, give her treats, and show her she's safe and loved.

* She is potty trained and will usually give cues like trying to get your attention or sitting near the door when she needs to go.

If she's fearful she may not give a cue and have an accident so we try to take her out mornings, evenings, and a few times throughout the day.

We leave a pee pad on her bed when we go out just in case, but she hasn't needed it.

*Tina really loves and needs blankets to burrow and feel safe.

*It seems like someone was too rough with Tina, and she is very afraid of being picked up, being pet to much or too roughly, and she yelps and becomes fearful if her leash tugs on her neck.

The trick is to go slowly, show her she is safe and help her associate positive, happy feelings with walks, pets, etc and over time she will become more open to these things.

If we need to move her or take her on a car ride, she let my husband pick her up in her bed, or she will happily jump in her crate with some blankets.

Patience, being gentle, and going with whatever she is comfortable with is key! * Tina would probably do best in a home without cats or with cats who keep to themselves.

Our cats are used to dogs around, so they go about their lives, walking or sitting near Tina, or even sometimes staring at her because they're curious.

Tina sees this as a threat, and it seems like it stresses her out.

We think she'd be able to relax more without cats hovering around her.

* Tina is fine with our dog that is the same size as her.

They go on walks together and even eat near each other without issues.

* Tina loves food and treats! She will mostly abandon her fear for them and even take treats from our hands.

Treats can be a good way to show her pets or walks or sitting with us is a positive thing.

* Tina very much wants to be loved and needs to be shown she is safe.

Despite how super fearful she can be, she has NEVER bitten us, only warning teeth and fake nips because she is afraid.

She has clearly been hurt by someone but it seems clear she doesn't want to hurt others, she's just scared.

Tina needs a safe space, blankets, treats, and patience to continue to come out of her shell." Tina Tumbles is back on-site, and we are hoping a very special family will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe.
