Meet Valentina
Valentina is a very special girl. She came to Cameron Animal Hospital from a neglect and abuse situation, in pain, malnourished, frightened, and barely able to walk. With time, medical care, and love, she has improved in every way.
Valentina is approximately 6-8 years old. She is FeLV/FIV negative, and has had complete bloodwork, which was excellent. Her coat currently looks unhealthy because of malnourishment, and because she was severely matted and had to be trimmed unevenly. As she is recovering and her nutrition is improving her coat is also becoming healthier. Valentina was unable to walk when she first arrived because she was so malnourished and weak, and because she has severe arthritis in one hip and joint pain in her back. These health issues will never fully resolve, but can be managed. Valentina is currently receiving several pain relief medications each day in her food (which she eats well in her food), a monthly pain relief injection, as well as 15 minutes of physical therapy each day. We are looking for an adopter with an extensive veterinary history who will maintain her regimen, which has helped her regain almost full use of her leg.
Valentina is a sweet, affectionate girl and often seeks attention and petting. She does not like being picked up or held (likely because it hurts). She is curious and likes walking around and exploring new places; she hates locked doors, and will often meow at them until they are opened- just to go sit in the doorway and look out. Valentina is ok with other cats as long as they ignore her in turn; she does not like other animals who are exuberant and want to play with her. Similarly she seems to tolerate calm, older dogs who ignore her, but young and hyper dogs (and children) frighten her.
Valentine will do best in a calm, quiet home with a family who has time to give her the attention she craves.
