Vanessa had a rough start to life, born under an abandoned house in Antigua with her siblings and rescued just a day before the house was knocked down. They made their way to the center in hopes of a new life and a family to call their own. All of Vanessa's siblings have been adopted, but months later, she's still waiting for a home.
As an older puppy, Vanessa was often overlooked by potential adopters who showed more interest in our younger, smaller pups. Vanessa was the shyest of her litter and had a hard time making a good first impression and standing out compared to her littermates. She's still a little nervous in this busy part of the city, but our Rehabilitation & Training team has been trying to build her confidence outside and on leash. Vanessa would likely do best in a quieter neighborhood with a family that has a bit of dog experience to help set her up for success.
She gets along well with other dogs in general and likes walking with other confident dogs, but can sometimes come on a bit strong when it's playtime!
Won't you give this older pup a chance? Come visit Vanessa at the center!
