Meet Wagmore! This 1-year-old Chihuahua-Dachshund blend weighs 15 lbs and is searching for a calm and loving family, willing to give him time to trust.
General Behavior: Initially timid, Wagmore is sure to gradually come out of his shell in a loving environment with patient humans, revealing just how sweet a pooch he is! He is still learning the ropes of being a dog and seeks reassurance from his trusted family members. Although not yet ready to initiate snuggles, he willingly participates if approached with a gentle touch. He is overall a very sweet and mild-mannered boy once he's comfortable in his home.
Likes & Dislikes: Wagmore enjoys spending his time running and playing outside, particularly when accompanied by other canine friends! However, he is not a fan of quick movements or loud noises and often retreats to a place of safety when frightened.Training: Wagmore has been working hard on his training skills in his foster home. He does best with his housetraining when let out frequently and on a regular schedule. He is still working on his leashwalking skills and overall feeling more comfortable when outside of his home.
Medical: Wagmore is a healthy boy and will just require his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.
Other Animals: Wagmore enjoys the company of other dogs, and having another confident and playful dog in his forever home to show him the ropes would be helpful in increasing his confidence. He has not yet been introduced to any cats, but we think he would do okay given a proper introduction.
Children: Wagmore thrives in a quiet, calm home due to his fear of loud, sudden noises and movements. Therefore, a home with children would not be a good fit, but he is comfortable with teens.
Home: This sweetheart requires a laid-back and calm home, with a family committed to building a bond with him. Wagmore needs time more than anything to feel comfortable and confident in his environment, and he needs a family that understands this. He will thrive in a single-family home with a secure, fenced-in yard where he can run to his heart's content! A home with frequent visitors or children would not be a good fit.
Grooming: As a short-haired pooch, Wagmore does not require any elaborate grooming other than his regular baths and nail trims.
Overall: Wagmore is a special boy with lots of love to give to a special and committed family.
