Meet Wanda and Wiley

SORRY BUT WE JUST CAN'T SEPARATE THEM

and that is not something we usually say or do.

Normally, dogs that come in together, or that are labeled "bonded" generally go on to do wonderfully in separate homes because usually, in these pairs, there is an uneven dynamic. One is usually hen pecked and mildly bullied while the other is a bit on the bossy and anxious side, because it feels responsible for the other dog. It is not a healthy way to live for either dog, so we generally have no issues with separating them but these two....well...they break all the rules.

We are nearly 100% certain they are related but how, is a mystery. Wanda appears to be slightly older and looks as if she has had a litter or two so it is possible Wiley is one of her pups, but the age difference is so minor that it could be non-existent, so he could be her brother too. Whatever the connection, these two are perfectly matched to go through life together. They do love each other and get along great with no uneven dynamics. Wanda is a natural leader and Wiley is a follower and both are content in their rolls.

We have had them listed separately, for a couple months, mentioning the other in their individual bios, hoping someone would want them both, but having separate bios, does not lend itself to those looking to adopt a pair, so we are now listing them together. We had applications for them as individuals but separating them, just seems unthinkable. We are hoping their photos inspire someone to open their hearts to both of them, so they might continue on in life together.

Wanda is the braver and more curious. She makes friends with other dogs easily and plays with them all, regardless of their size. She does love to chase a cat, if it will run from her, but if cats hold their own, she is smart enough to understand they can do some damage and leaves them alone.

Wiley is the quiet one and a follower. He is gentle and respectful with his other dog friends and his style of play is far less rambunctious. He much prefers a good game of chase, with a toy in his mouth, over wrestling and play fighting. He can also be a bit fearful of bigger dogs or dominant ones and only chases cats if Wanda is leading the charge, otherwise, he is not courageous enough to chance a confrontation with either.

Both dogs LOVE kids and light up when their foster's grandsons show up for a sleep over. They also love laying in laps, no matter how many other dogs are on it. The more the merrier as a matter of fact. They can be crated and or fed, separately or together and have such gentle temperaments and tender hearts. Both are about 80% housebroken, but are not going to ask to go outside to potty, so frequent trips keep them on track. So far, Wiley has not discovered the joy of marking, which is a wonderful thing. They are both learning to love leash walks with Wanda leading the way and Wiley bringing up the rear. Both are also learning to enjoy car rides and will be great dogs to take with, for camping or hiking adventures, RV travels or just to the hardware store or coffee with friends.

Wanda is the smaller and darker of the two at about 13lbs. She has an impossibly cute nose, long legs and the cutest little folded ears.

Wiley is bigger, lighter in color, also long legged and incredibly cute. He likes to nap on his back, in your lap, with his belly to the ceiling and most of the time, Wanda is right next to him.

These two were found quite a ways off the beaten track, on the reservation, near a popular, word of mouth, target shooting location. The chances of them wandering to this location on their own, are pretty slim, so it's highly likely there were placed there on purpose, as targets that managed to get away. Thank goodness they are small and quick. A home near the shooting range, found them huddled in the yard, and we were called to help. It is not the first time we have collected dogs from this location. One was grazed down the side by a bullet.

So these two have been through a lot together and have come to depend on one another and that is something we just can't bring ourselves to undo. They love each other, compliment one another and make a lovely pair, to walk down the road with, go fishing with or snuggle with on the couch. You name the activity, Wanda and Wiley will be happy to join in.

They are between 2 and 3 years old, with Wanda most likely the older. They are good eaters, treat lovers, smart and curious, have good at liberty recall and crate themselves for meal and night time. They are just a perfect little pair, looking for a loving home, hopefully with a few kids or grandkids, to call their own.

Both dogs are altered, up to date on five way vaccinations, rabies vaccinated, microchipped and fecal checked clean of intestinal parasites. They have loads of life left, to love their people and they are both so gentle and kind, we can't wait to place them in a home that will adore them....both.
