Winnie clearly had a rough life before entering our rescue.
She was found as a VERY pregnant stray and gave birth to 8 puppies within a week of entering the shelter.
Winnie was an amazing mom though keeping all 8 healthy for 8 weeks before they went off to another rescue and we pulled Winnie.
We were determined to NOT let Winnie fall victim to her breed.
She is an amazing 5 ½ year old Bully Mix (our best guess is American Pitbull / Staffordshire Terrier Mix).
When we first met Winnie she was quite defeated.
The world clearly hadn’t been kind and was weighing her down.
We vowed to change that for her! The best part of fostering Winnie these last 6 months hasn’t been watching her beat Heartworms and hasn’t been watching her health improve ….
it has been watching Winnie absolutely come to life.
We could see the joy in Winnie’s eyes! She has learned there is so much more to life and the LOVE of some humans is precisely what makes the world go round! Winnie weighs in at a hefty 60lb.
She is literally living proof that house hippos do exist.
Although Winnie loves to play with her friends and go on walks (she tops out at about a mile and a half), you will also find she loves a hard nap session in her crate.
Winnie LOVES her crate and will even put herself to bed at night.
Our wish for Winnie is that she finds the perfect family.
Humans who look past her breed and see her for all SHE IS! Although dog friendly, Winnie needs humans who understand that dog intros need to be taken slowly and it’s normal to not like EVERY DOG.
Winnie has been with us awhile now so her new family would need to understand adjustment periods do exist but given the opportunity she will melt your heart.
This girl is loving, affectionate, gentle, kind, and oh so cute! If you think you’re a good fit for Winnie we’d love to hear from you.
