Check out WINSTON, who celebrated his second birthday this past December .
This high energy boy loves rough play, loves his affection time, and above all loves his person/people.
Winston is not just a dog, and he is not just a Doberman.
HE IS A COMPANION, and is fully capable of being "man's best friend" to someone familiar with this breed or other powerful breeds.
Winston's energy is rated as an 8 out of 10 (with 10 as the highest).
He loves to play, and also enjoys his walks.
He is people-friendly, cat-friendly (lived with 2), but dog-selective/reactive.
He currently has 1 canine friend who he can run around and play with, and who matches his energy well.
However, when out walking, he isn't receptive to making new doggie friends.
He is still at a young enough age though we expect he could turn that around with the proper training.
What's most important to Winston though is his human bond.
He still however would be open to the possibility of having a companion pup who is well-matched with him at some point.
He very much enjoys his play time with his 1 canine buddy, and has not shown any signs of resource guarding with food or toys.
Winston is house-trained, crate-trained, and is protective of the home.
Winston has had basic obedience training, and would benefit from a refresher course with his new pack leader to help solidify a strong bond from the start (and as mentioned earlier, to help to facilitate dog socialization).
We would love to see Winston with someone(s) who can actively engage with him, hang out at home, and take him for walks.
This boy is a bit too rough for kid play, so we imagine either a single person or couple would be ideal.
A good backyard would be nice too so that he could freely run around.
Additionally, adopter must be ok with a pup who rates 7 out of 10 on neediness.
Winston does appreciate your companionship and does not like to be alone.
He whines when he cannot be near you, and you can count on him to follow you around the house.
When it comes to leaving him at home, he has always been crated.
He does not break out of the crate.
However, anything left in the crate with him will most likely be subject to destruction.
Winston is accustomed to sleeping in bed with his person and despite his short coat, cropped ears and docked tail he is still very cuddlicious! If you can provide Winston the love, time, leadership & commitment required for this boy, we would love for you to complete an application per the link below: Questions are also welcomed if you would like to inquire further by email.
*Winston is an owner-surrender due to a change in home/family dynamics, leaving him isolated and crated for most of the day.*
